Thank you for your interest in adopting with Rainbow Rescue & Retreat!
Our goal is to match our rescues with the right loving homes. As such, we do not process adoptions on a "first available" basis. During this process we ask questions, perform a home visit, and meet & greet to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone involved.
There are many factors to take into consideration before adopting an animal. Falling in love with an adorable pet is easy, but it is a big commitment to welcome them into your home and life.

NOTES:
If the pet is too young for a spay/neuter, your adoption fee covers the cost of the procedure for when your dog/cat is of age at OUR clinic. You will be required to bring the cat/dog to our vet for this procedure. This can be done as early as 3 months. We schedule the spay/neuter before the adoption agreement is signed. Should you decide to complete the procedure elsewhere it is at YOUR cost and we will require documentation of proof of sterilization and microchipping.
The adoption is NOT complete until the dog/cat has been spayed/neutered. Any kitten/puppy not altered by the age of 6 months, must have a vet statement explaining the reason for delay. Any unaltered kitten/puppy must be returned and adoption will not be finalized at six months, unless there is a valid medical reason for delay.)
ALL microchips are to be kept in the rescues name in the unforeseen, worst case scenario that our animals end up lost, at a shelter or dumped so that they may ALWAYS have a safe place to return to.
In the event you cannot keep your adopted pet, it MUST be returned to the rescue. It is in your legally binding contract. Even if a pet is being rehomed to a family member or friend, the new adopter would need to apply to assume ownership of this pet. This is to ensure that this pet is always in a home that can and will give proper care. References provided by you, in the event of rehoming, would be strongly considered. The safety, happiness, well being and best interest of the pet is ALWAYS the priority. The final decision on placement of the pet is up to the Rescue.
